Exciting day - do i sound like that?

BBC radio ran our piece today - listen to us here - on listen again, go one hour and 11 minutes in! They did mention figures - which we've not - but apart from that it was a fantastic package.

And Jools had a surprise - well two - today. One was two ladies turning up to have coffee (the cafe's not open on Mon and Friday during the school holidays) 'well the wireless SAID you were open..' - she made them both a pot of tea.

And this - from her own words: A lovely moment ...a gentleman called into the pub this morning and said "I've done something terrible and I need to clear my conscience, back in 1952, I had my de-mob party in this pub, whilst serving in the RAF, and I stole a lightbulb from outside!!" with that he promptly produced a brand-new boxed light bulb and gave... it to me!!!!!!!! doesn't that restore your faith in humanity!

So our campaign is having a great effect! Let's hope it has the desired effect and Jools can stay in the pub.

Comments welcome by the way...

  1. Greene king simply havent got a clue about local pubs and local feelings!HOW CAN THEY BE SO BLIND!? It seems that unless there's a huge shift then the white horse's days are numbered. a look at the GK for tenancy list on their website shows pages upon pages of profitable local pubs including our White horse. Theyre (GK) about to make the biggest cock up in the history of that pub by not fighting to keep the present landlady there. So they take a hit and negotiate a decent contract.. so what? She alone is the one who makes that pub what it is and brings in the profits they see on sales and barrelage, look at the last Feast Day..Jules had virtually the whole village round for drinks ! without her, they might as well knock it down and build a pitch for Sammo to park on.
That pub will never be the same and the heart will be ripped out of the village.
